This sketch was made during a discussion with a student. The charcoal sketch on an A1 size tracing paper captures the interplay of light and shadow in an underground setting. In our discussion, we focused on how the limited light sources create dramatic contrasts, casting deep shadows while illuminating select areas. The rough texture of the tracing paper adds a sense of rawness, reflecting the unfinished and exploratory nature of the piece. The sketch suggests the cavernous depth of the space, with light filtering in to reveal subtle details.
