First impressions: A sketch in the making : Shriya Sapher

This sketch was created during the early stages of design development, following an initial phase of research that explored larger ideas and concepts. It aimed to translate these larger concepts of thresholds, terraces, a sequence of courts, and geometric principles into a site-specific, scalable architectural form. These ideas, originally derived from an urban context of the city, needed to be refined and adapted to the project’s physical setting. Key considerations like orientation, axis, initial zoning of programmatic elements, circulation, and services were explored in these sketches.

It served as a crucial step in filtering and transforming abstract concepts into a tangible design, always keeping in mind the essence of the thesis: the relationship between people, place, and time.

This drawing was made as part of the Thesis Studio conducted in 2024.
