Forging meaning from the Canvas of the City : Disha Dilip

These illustrations were made as part of the design process for my architectural thesis. They emerged from the need to diagrammatically reresent, how the seemingly unrelated ideas of journalism, protest and performative arts like comedy, could exist together and make sense in a real urban context.

The diagram to the left was made in the initial stages of design, attempting to draw axes from the surrounding institutions and use them and guides for program ordering. It helped place the three aspects of my program within the site while also creating possibilities of intertwining them through architecture.

The diagram to the right is a representation of the final design using the same language. It borrows one axis as the primary datum, anchoring all the other programs. There is also the aspect of layering ideas and letting them reach out to the neighbouring two buildings, as an attempt to intersect  their fundamental purposes.

This drawing was made as part of the Thesis Studio conducted in 2024.
