Submitted to the Cyclist House competition by Non-Architecture, PeakPedal reimagines urban cycling infrastructure and housing in Bangalore. The competition challenged participants to design a home that actively promotes cycling as a lifestyle, integrating accessibility, storage, and engagement with the city.
On an urban scale, PeakPedal proposes cycle lanes suspended beneath metro lines, utilizing existing infrastructure to create a seamless cycling network. Modular towers at strategic locations serve as access points, equipped with elevators, ramps, cycle repair stations, storage areas, and retail spaces—transforming traditional street-level commerce into a vertical experience. These towers incorporate vertical gardens with integrated water-harvesting systems, reinforcing the vision of reviving Bangalore’s identity as the Garden City.
On a housing scale, the project introduces an urban mountain—an organic response to vertical city growth. This mountain integrates nature and housing, providing a green sanctuary while maintaining accessibility through metro-linked cycle lanes. Public spaces, greenery, and sustainable living merge into a self-sufficient ecosystem that redefines urban dwelling.
By blending mobility, sustainability, and architectural innovation, PeakPedal envisions a cycle-centric future where infrastructure supports both movement and community, reshaping Bangalore into a greener, more connected city.
