Scented Paths, Spatial Stories : Chirantan Jain , Pulakith

Sensorial mapping of Mysuru’s Devaraja Market that began with scent as a starting point to uncover the market’s rich experiential layers. Through the process of mapping, we identified key spatial and atmospheric characteristics across different zones and chose to highlight, amplify, and abstract them in the graphic. Smell, sound, density, and light were interwoven with spatial qualities to create a layered, immersive representation. Rather than a conventional plan, this map offers an amplified sensory understanding—where the viewer can read, feel, and interpret the market through its vibrant smells, textures, and transitions. Ultimately, this work celebrates the market as a dynamic, lived space full of distinct sensory stories.
