These drawings are conceived as layered analyses of the plan, aimed at understanding its underlying spatial nature. The built–unbuilt representation forms one such layer, giving rise to drawing conventions developed by figures such as Nolli and Piranesi to study urban form. The drawing in the upper half illustrates how key architectural fragments exist within and generate a larger field, defined here as the space used to access these fragments that hold the most important programs. The drawing in the lower half is a conventional Nolli plan, which brings attention to the nature of publicness within the plan, whether built or unbuilt. Together, these drawings function as iterative layers of sketching, produced on Morpholio Trace (iOS) over a base CAD plan.
