The Museum : Bhoomika, Bindu & Vaishnavi

This drawing set represents the museum proposal as an intervention embedded within the existing landscape, demonstrating how architecture responds to terrain, movement and the experience of the site. Additionally, they illustrate the project’s role as a connector between the western gateways and the fort precinct to the east, transforming movement through the site into a continuous journey.

The site plan reveals the museum as a carefully positioned sequence of public and institutional spaces woven around existing rock formations, pathways and levels. Rather than imposing a singular object on the site, the proposal works with the natural topography, creating a network of plazas, open air gathering spaces, exhibition areas, and transitional zones that encourage both exploration and pause. The café, foyer, administration spaces and restrooms are arranged to support visitors while remaining accessible to the local community.

The sectional drawing highlights the spatial organization of the museum, showing how exhibition spaces, service areas, and public functions are distributed across multiple levels. Skylights bring controlled natural light into the galleries, enhancing the experience of viewing artefacts while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. The section also demonstrates how the built form negotiates changes in terrain, allowing visitors to move seamlessly between enclosed interiors and open public spaces.

The contextual elevation situates the proposal within the larger fort setting, emphasizing the contrast between the monumental rock formations and the modest scale of the intervention. By nestling itself within the contours of the site, the museum preserves the visual dominance of the landscape while establishing itself as a civic destination. Together, these drawings communicate the project’s central intention: to create a museum that functions not as a closed container of artefacts, but as an extension of the fort itself, where architecture, landscape, circulation and exhibition become part of one continuous experience.
