Torre David stands as a compelling case study of architecture escaping its original intent. Abandoned mid-construction and gradually occupied over time, the tower evolved around the immediate needs of its inhabitants rather than an architect’s master plan. Circulation networks and living spaces emerged organically, establishing an alternative urban logic within a concrete shell.
This illustration projects that logic two centuries into the future. Beginning with the tower’s present state, four sequential drawings trace its transformation through to the year 2200. Drawing on informal urbanism, adaptive reuse, speculative fiction, and the Waste World framework, each phase builds directly upon the last. Over time, the skyscraper loses its identity as a standalone monument. Structural frameworks expand outward, infrastructure becomes increasingly layered, and adjacent structures gradually merge together. By 2200, Torre David is no longer an isolated tower but an integrated fragment within an ever-expanding urban ecosystem.
Minor AI-assisted enhancements were used during post-processing to add life and atmospheric details, while all architectural design and visualization decisions were created manually.
